  • Troubleshooting Trailer 12 Volt Accessory Circuit Not Active on Vehicle
  • The 12 volt accessory circuit of a vehicle's 7-way would have a larger amp rating than 7.5 amps. Typically the rating is 30 or 40 amps. If the 7-way came on your vehicle from the factory there should be a fuse or relay labeled 12 volt accessory trailer. If the 7-way was installed aftermarket then it is possible that the circuit wasn't completed. You would need to run the wire from the 1:00 pin of the 7-way through a 40 amp breaker like part # 9510 to the positive post of your battery.

  • Solution for Activating 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way Trailer Wiring
  • Without knowing what vehicle you have it's harder for me to say what is easiest way to activate the 12 volt accessory circuit of your 7-way but I can help you regardless. One solution is to run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 from the 1:00 pin of the 7-way to the positive post of the battery.

  • Activating 12-Volt Accessory 7-Way Circuit on 2007 Ford F150
  • Since your F150 had the 4-pole connector, the towing circuits are most likely not fully active. To activate that charge circuit, you will need to install a fuse and relay into the fuse box. The fuse is a 30 amp in location # 106, and the relay goes in position # R05. These positions are shown in the fuse diagram on page 277 of your owners manual. You can obtain the relay from your Ford dealer or your local auto parts store.

  • Can I Use Accessories to Increase the Height of my Kuat Grip Ski/Snowboard Carrier?
  • If you choose to mount some accessories from the T-Channel Mount Kit for Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carrier # GRDMK, I strongly recommend that the grips that attach to the crossbars are still fully attached to the bars so that it will deter any shifting (or, even worse, the Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carrier # GRR6G falling off the roof). As long as the crossbar attachments remain fully functional for the Kuat Grip, you will be good to go. I confirmed with Kuat that this will not void...

  • Troubleshooting Stealth Hitches Trailer Hitch Receiver Rattling When No Accessories are Attached
  • I reached out to Stealth Hitches to determine if they have ever heard of something like this happening and it was new to them. I as well am confused as I have never hear of something like this happening before. Typically with any kind of hitch rattle issue with no parts in the receiver it is caused by a heat shield, part of the exhaust or fascia that needs to be modified because it is hitting the receiver. Stealth Hitches confirmed as long as the block is bolted correctly there is nothing...

  • Troubleshooting Furrion Monitor Not Turning On
  • Since the discontinued Furrion Digital Wireless Observation System FOS48TAPK-BL (similar to part # FOS43TASF) plugs into a 12V accessory outlet like what comes with the kit # RM-9332 you just need to make sure your 12V accessory outlet has power when using the system. If it isn't receiving power then there could be a broken fuse somewhere or there could be some wiring that is messed up on your vehicle/RV. You can also plug in a different accessory to make sure that it isn't the monitor...

  • Turn Signals Not Working on an Accessory Connected to a 1998 Dodge Ram Pickup
  • There is a possibility that this problem is due to mixing incandescent lights with LEDs, but this is unlikely. More likely is this being a grounding issue with the wiring. Usually, when one function is not working while others are, this points to a problem with how the ground is connected. Check the connection point of your accessory's ground wire to ensure that it is free of corrosion or rust. If you find any, clean the area or move the connection to a cleaner spot. Check your vehicle's...

  • Battery on Tekonsha Trailer Break Away System not Receiving Charge
  • I would begin by testing the 12-volt accessory power circuit pin on the tow vehicle 7-way connector using a circuit tester like part # 40376. The 12-volt accessory pin is in the 2:00 position in the connector socket as shown in the provided photo. If you are not showing power on that pin, how to proceed next will depend on the year, make and model of vehicle and whether or not the 7-way is factory or aftermarket installed. If the 7-way is factory installed, the fuse is most likely protected...

  • Troubleshooting No Power on 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way 2012 Dodge Ram 2500
  • The 12 volt accessory circuit isn't always active on vehicle 7-ways we've found. Not every towing setup requires this circuit so sometimes it's just left inactive. The easiest way to activate it though is to use a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 to the positive post of your truck battery and it will be active.

  • Replacement Lock and Keys for Rhino Rack Roof Racks and Accessories
  • Good question! No worries here we have exactly what you need to get your locks back in proper order. You will use Rhino-Rack Masterkey Lock Barrels - Keyed Alike part # RRRK093-2 or part # RRRK062-2 this will provide you with 2 keys (one master to remove to old cores and one to operate the locks) and 2 new lock cores. You just place the master in the core then rotate and pull to remove them. These will not only work on your roof rack but on any Rhino Rack accessories so it might be a...

  • Should Battery be Disconnected for Flat Towing a 2013 Lincoln MKX
  • According to page 152 of the owner's manual for your 2013 Lincoln MKX by putting the vehicle in accessory mode it allows some electrical accessories to still operate even though the engine isn't running. I'm not sure what needs to keep running but since the manual doesn't say anything about disconnecting the battery I don't advise doing so as it would essentially be the same as turning your vehicle off. What I do recommend doing is using the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 alongside the...

  • My Curt Echo is not Working do I Need the Brake Signal Wire
  • The Curt Echo part # C51180 does not require any signal from the brake output signal on the truck. You simply need to have 12 volt power on the accessory circuit of the truck. If the Echo is not coming on you need to check the fuse panel and make sure that you have a fuse in the trailer accessory position. This will send power to the 7-way plug and allow the Echo to come on and operate properly.

  • 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid Battery Draining Quickly When Flat-Towing
  • Per the attached diagram, the InvisiBrake System, part # RM-8700 is attached to the Fusion battery. I checked the owner's manual for your Fusion and it states that the key should be positioned between the off and the accessory mode. I have attached a drawing with an arrow that indicates where the key should be positioned when towing. If the key is left in the accessory position it will drain the battery.

  • Troubleshooting Brake Output Pin on 7-Way Connector Putting out Constant 12-Volts
  • I am guessing that either your trailer connector is wired incorrectly or there is a problem with your brake controller. The only pin on the connector that should show constant voltage is the 12-volt accessory circuit. The pin for the brake output should only show output when the vehicle brakes are applied or the override switch on the brake controller is activated. If you are getting constant 12-volt output on the 7-way connector, I would first recommend checking that the connector is...

  • Checking 7-Way and 6-Way Connector for Proper Wiring
  • The method of wiring a 7-way blade-type trailer connector is standardized. I would recommend using a circuit tester, such as part # PTW2993 on the 7-way to ensure that it has been wired correctly. Test each pin as its function is activated. If you were to look at the front of the connector and compare the pins to the face of a clock, the 12-volt accessory pin would be at the 1-position, the right turn in the 3-position, the brake controller output at 5, ground at 7, left turn at 9, and...

  • How to Prevent a 12 Inch Receiver Hitch Extension From Rattling in Receiver
  • Adding an extension introduces another component in between the receiver and the ballmount or hitch accessory. Because of this, getting a certain amount of wobble is unavoidable. If you're using the extension for a hitch mounted accessory, you can use an anti-rattle device like part # BX88224. However, keep in mind that using an extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent. If you'll be towing, you'd be better off using a longer ball mount, if the longer...

  • Electric Trailer Brakes Lock Up When Trailer is Plugged in to Tow Vehicle
  • The easiest first step here would be to try the trailer on a different truck, and see if the same problem occurs. If the trailer brakes are free until the trailer is plugged in, I suspect that something is mis wired. I would suggest examine the wiring where the break away system was bypassed and make sure that the 12-volt accessory feed is not connected to the brake wire at some point. Are you by chance using a 7 to 6-way adapter? If so, there are two accepted ways of wiring a 6-way connector....

  • Reducing Noise From Rhino Rack Vortex Series Roof Rack Crossbar Kits
  • Generally, aero bars are as quiet as they can get, but there's a few extra steps you can take to try and reduce the noise from your Rhino Rack SG Roof Rack Kit, part # RRSG59. - If you're experiencing a high pitched whistle that seems to come from near one of the connection points, you may not have a great fit to that particular leg. You can improve performance by repeating the installation of the rack, focusing on alternating tightening down the two legs, doing half of the turns required...

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install of OEM Controller in 2016 Ford Expedition
  • At the rear frame rail there are a few wires that you'll need to run to the 7-way as they most likely aren't complete like you have found. Typically connecting those wires to the 7-way will be all that's needed but sometimes the circuits aren't active. Since it's an OEM controller contacting Ford would be best option. You may need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The...
